Beach Ball Twist
Benefits: Crossing midline stimulates nerve messages between brain hemispheres,
so your receptive and expressive sides work together. Challenges your balance and tones the abdominals.
Actions: Imagine holding a beach ball at your right hip. Lift your right knee across your midline and point it to the left front corner. Optional: touch your right hip with left hand as you go. Come back to center, and repeat on the other side. Go back and forth, tossing 8 times to each side.
BREATHE with the movements, exhaling on each toss.
Adaptations: You could hold a sturdy support with one hand, while “tossing back” with the other. If lifting your knee is a problem, cross one straight leg in front of the other, and tap the toe down in front.
